Disable and prohibit users from signing in

New features for those who administer users in Next®.

To enhance the security around your Next® we have implemented two new features:

  • Enable and disable user profile
  • Allow and prohibit sign in from user interface

New options in the user profile

A disabled user profile cannot be used to sign in to Next® in any way. Neither with the browser-based user interface, nor the mobile app (Next® Approve), and not even with the REST APIs.

If you have a user profile you use for system to system integration, you may enable the user profile, and Prohibit sign in from user interface. That way integration using REST APIs will work, and the user profile can not be used to access Next® with the normal user interface.

Next® is typically used as an integrated element in a corporate IT landscape, and utilizing the user management already in place. Next® Active Directory Connector and Next® Enterprise Single Sign On, allow you to manage your Next® uses with your enterprise tools. Including these new options.

These two features came as suggestions from the KPMG IT auditors, who are currently certifying Next® according to ISAE3000/IDWPS880.

The business log

Time and user for the most recent change is noted on the setting. No logging takes place in the business log,

Future enhancements

Changing the user profile settings, is logged in the business log.

Log entry:

ADLEO Changed the user profile for Bennedict Wade.

For the techies

We recommend using tools like Active Directory and Active Directory Federated Services to manage you users. This allows you to use two-factor log in, and  other important security features.
