PDF archive watermark

If you have the PDF Archive automation in place, you can now secure that selected documents leaving the archive is watermarked with detailed information identifying the original in the archive.

For this initial release of the PDF archive watermark, the format, layout, and content of the watermark is fixed and predefined.

The watermark contains the document type, the description, a unique document ID, a revision number, the current date, a link to the document in the archive, and the same link as a QR code.

This particular watermark is intended to secure the unique identification of construction drawings brought on site in off-line format.

For the document types where watermark is enabled, you are not able to get access to a copy of the document without the watermark. No matter if you view, print, download, email, or export the document, you will get it with the watermark.

Future enhancements

In coming releases we will continue to add flexibility and options to this new feature in order to support other use cases.

  • Securing that all Invoice copies are clearly marked COPY
  • Marking delivery notes or product certificates with an archive reference and a copy date
  • Ensuring that supplier contracts are marked CONFIDENTIAL
  • Having Personal Health Records marked DO NOT SHARE!
  • and many other

Also select users will be able to see (and share) a version of the document without the watermark.

For the techies

We do not alter the original content of the document, but make sure that an annotation layer is added before the document leaves the storage engine.

Commercial terms and conditions

This new feature is available at no additional cost, to users with the Next® PDF Archive automation and an active service plan. The Next® PDF Archive automation is an optional extension with a separate license fee. Any consultancy assistance will be invoiced.

Despite our best efforts, we may be forced to change both content and expected delivery of future product updates without notice.
