Minor enhancements for the Next® admins and specialists, December 2022

It is no secret that the primary target of our enhancements are the business users, or end users, of Next®. Still, providing ease of use, and increased productivity to those who administrate or configure Next® also makes great sense.

For this release we have collected the following minor enhancements targeted the admins and specialists:

New functions let you define smarter defaults
When you setup Next® you can set defaults and auto-complete on metadata fields to make it easier for the end user to archive their documents with the relevant metadata. With this release we introduce a new source for defaults - Functions. The three built-in functions coming with this release are: Add 12, 24, and 36 months to Contract effective date. This allows you to make smarter default expiry dates for the people adding new contracts. A Function is an easy to use wrapper for more generic "Extractors". You can define your own functions, and many more built-in functions will come.

Secure that Next® has sufficient memory allocated

Next® is an amazingly fast solution to use. However, If you run your Next® with insufficient memory you will experience Next® as unresponsive and providing you with sub par performance. Eventually, you may even risk your Next® to crash. That is why, when you install a new Next®, the default memory size allocated is now 12 GB. This is a more appropriate size for mid-sized implementations. More demanding implementations will require even more memory. If you run your Next® with less than 12 GB allocated, Next® will notify the Next® System Operations group.

Standard Available contracts table services enhanced with multi value capability

The standard table service used to link a contract to other documents (or contracts) now accepts multiple values.

Next® Document capture preserves the ordering of attachments

When you import documents into Next® using a Document capture and and XML index file, Next® will now preserve the order of the attachments.

Data capture in Next® Invoices for NAV DXC edition adds support for Kofax AP Essentials
Using XML translation, we have added the ability to switch from Kofax KTM on prem to Kofax AP Essentials in the cloud for the customers running Next® Invoices for NAV DXC edition - also known as the Industry solution.

For the techies

This is pretty much technical in it's nature.
