Minor enhancements for the Next® admins and specialists, February 2021

It is no secret that the primary target of our enhancements are the business users, or end users, of Next®. Still, providing ease of use, and increased productivity to those who admin or configure Next® also make great sense.

For this release we have collected the following minor enhancements targeted the admins and specialists:

Enhancement Issue

Transformation Engine technology update
As part of our ongoing efforts to keep the Next® Transformation Engine up to date, we have updated the ASPOSE library to the most recent version. Among other things this means better support for fonts when generating PDF versions of documents.

NEXT-3768

NEXT-3716

Quick-edit technology update
As part of our ongoing efforts to keep Next® up to date, we have updated our WebDAV library to the most recent version.

NEXT-3761

Next® Document Capture allocates less memory

NEXT-3221

We have dramatically reduced the amount of allocated memory when installing a document capture on Windows. This allows for running more document captures on a single server.

Next® Document Capture runs better NEXT-3727
When you run a document capture on an IBMi or Unix file system with 'Oldest first', we now release all the file handles and stress the server less.

More informative logging messages during start up NEXT-3744
Start up of Next® server that was busy when closed down, takes time to secure consistency. We have previously optimized the startup time dramatically, and now we have also added to the logging that occurs during start up. Being able to follow the progress builds confidence, and eliminates uncertainty.

Dynamic Permission Control allows for empty results NEXT-3746
the Dynamic Permission Control now proceeds to the next policy, if one policy yields no valid outcome.

Optional and hidden date fields are not longer set during Add document  NEXT-3763
On a contract for example, you do not want the termination date to be automatically set to today's date. This is now the default behavior.

Preview now also generated for Word templates   NEXT-3801
Next® now also generates previews for DOTX files - just as it does for DOCX.

More export options for admins  NEXT-3799
PDF Creation Policies  and Transformation Engine Configurations can now be exported

Expert tool for reindexing haystacks on a running system    NEXT-3734

Brilliant tool for the Next® experts that allows us to rebuild a corrupted master index on a running system. At a later time, this may be included in our automatic housekeeping, but for now its and expert only tool.

IFrame integration with SAML/OAuth in the newest browser versions NEXT-3809

Enterprise single sign on now works in the new browser versions with stricter cookie management.

For the techies
