One-click export to Excel®

When you use Next® for everyday work, it is sometimes relevant to process the data in Next® outside of Next. Next® comes with an open REST API for extracting data. This API we use when we extract data into external solutions such as Power BI or ClickView.

If you process your data in Microsoft Excel, you now have an even easier option: One-click export to Excel.

Click Export to Excel below the list to create an Excel file with all the documents in your list

Chose any search form, and fill in the search criteria. Click the Export to Excel icon below the list of documents to bring up the confirmation dialog.

Conform the export you are starting. Pay close attention to the number of documents.

Instead of tying up your workstation, the export is processed as a background task. When the background task is completed, you get an email with a link to the resulting Excel file. Once is delivered, you will get the notification there instead.

The number behind Background tasks, tells you how many of your background tasks are still active.

If you have active tasks, you can follow their progress. And if you miss out on your completion email, you can always access the Excel file from here.

You can remove your background tasks, when you have no more need for it.

When you click View result, you open up your Excel file in Next®. Ready to share.

The business log

When you start a background task it's logged in the business log.

And whatever changes your background task may perform to documents, will be logged as well.
