Next® protects you when running low on storage capacity

Securing that IT systems have enough resources to run reliably is of course the responsibility of the IT Operations staff. If you run Next® in the Cloud or Next® as a Service, we and Microsoft will take care. If you run Next® by your self, the responsibility is yours.

Even with the best IT OPS in place, you may miss the warnings. That's why we have enhanced Next® with some clever new features to reduce the risk of this happening.

First of all, Next® will no longer suffer quietly. When Next® sees a trend that might lead into a critical situation where there is not enough storage capacity available, it will start warning the responsible people with Notifications.

Next® Digital Workplace is running low on storage capacity. Please resolve the problem before it becomes critical.

If the issue is not resolved, Next® will enter Restricted State to secure the integrity of the system.

If you see this, call your Next® Administrator immediately.

While Next® is in Restricted state, you cannot add new documents or perform operations that require more storage capacity.

If you are using Extended Access logging, Next® will not allow even view only activities while in restricted state.

The moment you resolve the issue, and provide more storage capacity, Next® will resume normal operation, and no harm has been done.

Future enhancements

In a future release of Next®, you will get a number of standard user groups - including a Next® systems admins group. Anyone you enroll into this will automatically be notified about such events.

For the techies

This new feature in Next® is ABSOLUTELY NOT intended to replace structured monitoring by the IT Operations staff.

Running low on storage capacity is critical. If Next® cannot write its transactions to disk, the next startup of Next® will take considerably longer time. Next® starts sending warnings when any of the allocated storage units have less that 50GB available. When you allocate additional storage capacity, Next® may take up to 5 minutes to detect.

The Notification service - Next® system notifications is used to provide notifications to the responsible persons.

Please refer to the online product guide for additional information on this feature, once it is released..

Commercial terms and conditions

This new feature is available at no additional cost, to users with Next®  and an active service plan.

Any consultancy assistance needed for implementation will be invoiced.
