Auto-generate searchable text-PDF from image-PDFs
If you have recognized that PDF is the go-to format for archiving, you have probably already installed the Next® PDF Automation package, that allows you to make PDF versions of documents in Office and Email formats.
The PDFs generated by this package are completely searchable so-called text-PDFs. This means that you in Next® can search easily for both metadata and document content. The same probably applies to the majority of PDFs you receive from the outside word, but not all. Some of the PDFs you receive are probably mere image-PDFs with not textual information. If these PDFs contain valuable information, this is not good for your archive. That's why the the Next® PDF Automation package now gets the new feature: Auto-generate searchable text-PDF from image-PDFs.
Just define what document types it makes sense to process - if not all. Next® takes care of the rest.
Only with text-PDFs can you seach for the content of the document.
For the techies
OCR is a complex process that consumes computing resources, and also comes with it's limitations. Do not use OCR on image-PDFs if you can get access to a text-PDF instead.
