Extended multi-company support in Next®
New possibility for complex organizations using Next® for invoice processing and enterprise archiving.
With basic Next® functionality you can support a company structure with multiple legal entities, even when these are served by different ERP systems. In Next® you simply define an archive for each legal entity, and do the setup for each individual legal entity.
With Extended multi-company support we take this capability one step further. Now you may even support multiple companies in a single unified archive. A unified archive makes great sense if you have a lot of cross entity collaboration, and being able to support this for even complex organizational structures is major step forward.
Extended multi-company support allows you to implement even the most complex organizations in Next®
Security
When you allow documents from different legal units to be processes in a single unified enterprise archive, permission control becomes even more vital.
Next® contains all the permission mechanisms you need - including the optional Dynamic Permission Control, where permission are controlled by user groups (roles) and metadata associated with each document.
Unless permission to see a document is explicitly granted, there is no way to obtain access. Not through the user interface, and not through APIs. Security is built-in.
For the techie ones
The following configurations are made on system level, but may be overridden on archive level, or even company level.
- Authorized approvers
- Vendors
- Chart of accounts
- Purchase invoices approval processes
- Automatic matching
This allows you the maximum flexibility combined with the least amount of maintenance.

Additional information
Please refer to the online product guide for additional information on this feature, once it is released.
Future enhancements
In this initial release of multi-company support, we support that each company may (or may not) use it's own instance of an ERP system.
In a future release of Next®, you will be able to mix companies using different setup or even different ERP systems in the same archive.
Maybe you run Business Central (NAV) in your local business units, and Financial & Operations (AX) at headquarters.
Commercial terms and conditions
This new feature is available as an optional feature for Next® Invoices and Next® Enterprise Archive, and comes with additional cost. Any consultancy assistance will be invoiced.
