My tasks, Shared tasks, and Others tasks streamlined

When you work with processes and tasks in Next® - processing invoices, handling emails, booking expenses or something completely different - you often have more than a single inbox or task list to help you organize your work efficiently. Very often we tailor the setup to groups and individuals.

Still, all Next® products come with a series of standard task lists:

  • My tasks - containing all the tasks assigned to me personally
  • Shared tasks - containing the tasks assigned to a group of people that I belong to, or to someone in that group
  • Others' tasks - containing the tasks assigned to other individuals. This task list is typically used by the people in charge of a process and helping others to do their job.

Three groups of task lists - my personal tasks, tasks I share with others, and everyone else's tasks

Until now, the category Others' tasks has had a special behavior. As you can see in the screenshot above, clicking Others' tasks builds a list of all employees in the company showing their individual task list. While this may be OK in a company with 10 or 20 employees, it's not very efficient when you have 1.000 or 10.000 colleagues.

That is why, we with this release streamline the behavior to work exactly as when you open Shared tasks.

Now Others' tasks behaves like everything else - select in Assigned to, whose tasks your looking for

From now on, Next® will not produce a list on task lists. Instead you select the relevant user in Assigned to.

Different? Yes.

Better? Maybe.

More consistent? Definitely.

Future enhancements

Streamlining the way our tasks are managed, makes it easier for us to introduce more smartness. In a soon to come release, you will be able to see your task lists in a graphical representation. Especially relevant for those who administer processes for others.

Commercial terms and conditions
