Easy manipulation of attached files in Next®
In Next® each document can have one or more attachments to it.
- A contract with its appendices
- A sales invoice with the terms & conditions
- A price list with the Excel™ sheets to make it
- An architectural drawing with a number of documenting photos
Now we are streamlining the way you work with these files.
In the list of documents
Choose Attach to add a new file to the document. Or Attach an replace to update an existing file.
If you click Attach, you will be asked to select one or more files and provide a comment. Just like now.
If you click Attach and replace, you will be asked to select one or more files and provide a comment.
If the number of selected files match, those already in Next® each file is replaced.
If the number of files already in Next exceeds the number of files selected, you will be asked to select what files to replace.
If the number of files selected exceeds the number of files in Next, you get an error message. “You selected too many files. Select a maximum of 5".
In the document view
If you are viewing an individual document, it makes sense to use the action bar.
Click Attach to add a new file to the document. Click Attach an replace to update an existing file.
When you choose to Attach and replace, you'll have to tell Next® what file to replace - unless it's actually all of them.
I select the customer complaint to be replaced, and add a comment to document why.
This enhancement makes Next® much easier to work with if you often attach and replace individual files.
Future enhancements
The ability to perform these actions also from the tab view is scheduled for coming release of Next®.
In the tap panels
If you have attached files, you see a tap representing each of them including the main document.
If you click Attach and replace, you will be asked to select one file and provide a comment.
If you click ‘+’, you will be asked to select one or more files and provide a comment. Just like Attach.
In the Files panel
The Files panel is only intended for the expert user, but never the less it must still be easy to use.
If you click Attach and replace, you will be asked to select one file and provide a comment.
At the same time you will also be able to setup who has access to each of these features.
