Next® REST API becomes fully streamable

We could write numerous books on the value of integrating your Next® solution with the other components in your IT landscape. That's the reason why this rather technical enhancement has found it's way to News in Next®.

Integration of Next® means that your documents are archived automatically into your Enterprise archive. Integration, also means that you with a single click can access any relevant document directly from within the system you already use.

Integration may also mean that your customer portal lists all your customer's invoices, and invite them to view or download a copy. Or that your financial controllers, can build their own reports on Supplier Invoice Payment Performance using Power BI.

Integration is everything

All the integrations that allow data to flow from Next® to any external application are done using the Next® REST API. Secure and Cloud ready.

With the May'22 release, we have optimized this unique API to be fully streamable. This means that you can now ask Next® to provide you with an unlimited data set without exhausting Next®. Actually, you could ask for the complete content of your Next®, and you'll get it.

No more need to segment your exports, unless you have a hard time handling the size of the result set. Next® will manage easily. This will make the process of using the REST API much easier.

Why is this important?

Simply because the Next® REST API is the cornerstone in the integrated Enterprise archive - also in the cloud. No matter if you use our standard components as Next®. Connector for Salesforce and Next® Integration Services for SAP. Or you integrate to an Enterprise Service Bus such as Mule, or directly to our REST API.

Future enhancements

We are currently evaluating the feasibility of two enhancements:

  1. Include filters to select only log entries.
If you wish to report changes to a common tool.

  2. Include an option to configure the response.
Sometimes the full response is overwhelming to the recipient.

For the techies

Be aware of pros an cons of using REST API vs URL linking when you want to provide access to documents in Next®. If you are in doubt please reach out. If you are not in doubt, you should most definitely reach out

Commercial terms and conditions

This enhanced feature is available, at no additional cost, to users with an active service plan. Any consultancy assistance will be invoiced.

Despite our best efforts, we may be forced to change both content and expected delivery of future product updates without notice.
