Choose to see PDF version or original document
Working with Office™ documents in Next® is amazing when you have the Next® PDF Archive Automation extension. Next® automatically makes sure, that you at all times have a PDF version of all your Word™, Excel™, and PowerPoints™ documents. Even your Outlook™ Emails are secured in a future proof and archive friendly format.
By default, Next® always shows you the PDF version of a document if it has one.
Sometimes, however, it is relevant to (pre)view the actual original document, instead of the PDF-version. Especially for emails, where the Next® does an incredible job of showing complex emails with attached and embedded emails. That's why we've added an extra toggle switch, when you view documents with a PDF version.
In the document view
If you are viewing an individual document, you now have the option to select between the PDF version or the original. Simply click the menu in the file tab.
When you are seeing the PDF version:
Click Original to switch.
A PDF version of an email is a single document including all attachments
When you are seeing the original version:
Choose PDF version to switch.
The email original is made up of multiple elements - the body and several attachments
For emails we have gone one step further. We have so much confidence in our viewing capabilities, that we have made the original format the default. But, of course, you can still choose to view the PDF instead - click the menu and select Show PDF version.
Future enhancements
Currently we have no enhancements planned
For the techies
The 'original' format for a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint is in fact the HTML preview of the document. Modern browsers are not able to display the actual Office files.
