Minor enhancements for the Next® admins and specialists, October 2021
It is no secret that the primary target of our enhancements are the business users, or end users, of Next®. Still, providing ease of use, and increased productivity to those who administrate or configure Next® also make great sense.
For this release we have collected the following minor enhancements targeted the admins and specialists:
Enhancement | Issue |
---|---|
Next® Invoices gets dynamic metadata structures |
NEXT-4093 |
Current user added as filter parameter |
NEXT-4138 |
Dynamics permissions on Smart folders | NEXT-4079 |
The Dynamic Permission Processor has been extended to also allow for Roles to be set for Smart Folders. Please remember that for now, the use of metadata and permissions on folders requires Product Manager approval |
|
Next®-drive supports multi-value fields | NEXT-4099 |
A document exposed in Next®-drive may now appear in multiple folders if the field determining the folder can hold multiple values. If an illustration is tagged at both Clip art AND Cartoon, it will appear in both folders. Be aware that for now Next®-drive is a technology preview only. |
|
Workflow search index optimization job | NEXT-4136 |
A new systems utility to remove ghosts from the search index on workflow tasks. A Ghost being an entry only found in the search index, but not the master index. | |
Re-index business log | NEXT-4095 |
The introduction of Smart-filters in business and view log have gained great user acceptance. If you want the Smart-filters to be fully operational on older log entries, you need to run a Re-index of business log. | |
Minimum security for transport protocol | NEXT-3862 |
Now you can select the minimum acceptable security protocol to use for Next and SMTP. If SSL is already enabled, we set it to TSL 1.2 as default after the upgrade. At the same time we added support for TLS version 1.1 and 1.2 when doing check in from the Office Add-ins. | NEXT-4142 |
Avoid accidental downloads | NEXT-4049 |
We have redefined our algorithm to avoid browsers from accidently downloading documents. If a PDF or HTML preview for a content exists, it will be shown no matter what file type settings are configured. If no such preview exists, an entry in the File type settings administration must exist for the content to be shown or automatically downloaded. | |
Next®- Document capture adds basic cleaning of XML files | NEXT-4131 |
In order for Next® Document Capture to be more resilient to erroneous XML files, Next® will attempt some very basic cleansing of input XML-like data depending on the configuration settings. This includes the option of stripping away any illegal characters found before the XML structure and now also an attempt to correct missing or incorrect encoding information for the XML document. | |
Easier setup of Office and Outlook Add-ins with SSL | NEXT-4128 |
If Next server is configured to SSL we have made it easier to configure Office and email add ins to support this. (command line script added to XUL) | |
More selection chips in Search forms | NEXT-4140 |
We are great fans of selection chips instead drop down lists, as they present you with your options immediately. Now you can configure a Search form with a chip filter, when data table has a single column. | |
For the techies
This is pretty much technical in it's nature.
