New card layouts and thumbnails

Next® Digital Workplace was originally born out the the need for managing admin and financial documents efficiently.

Today, Next® is used for numerous other applications in all parts of the organizations.

To cater even better for those who work with documents that are not financial, we now introduce a major enhancement to the Next® user interface - card layouts and thumbnails.

Next® now caters better for those who work with graphical elements

Inspired by Next® Go

When you see the card layouts in use, its easy to see that they are inspired by the ease of use you find in our mobile app - Next® Go.

Typical traditional hit lists in Next®

A typical list of documents (a hitlist) looks like this. Depending on the size of your screen you will see 15-30 documents at a time.

The traditional list view  is very efficient when you work with huge numbers of similar documents.

A typical customer folder only has a few columns - maybe the date, the type and a description.

A more specialized view - for example expired contracts or over due invoices typically has more columns or fields.

The new card view

With the new card view you get to see fever documents in the list, but with more information on each document.

The new card view shows fewer documents

Also the new card view makes it easier to have different different types of documents in the same list, as different layouts mix easily.

Not all cards are equal. And they mix easily.

Thumbnails or miniatures

At the same time as card layouts, we introduce a new kind of field - a thumbnail or a miniature of the document.

Again, this is probably more valuable when you work with logos, icons , and publications, than when you work with invoices and statements.

If Next® is not able to produce a meaningful thumbnail for your document automatically, you can manually change the image used as thumbnails.

Your Next® product comes with its predefined views and hitlist. These will now include an optional thumbnail, but if you want the thumbnail to appear or not, is something you decide when you tailor in your lists.

Future enhancements

In a future release of Next® you will also be able to have hitlist represented as graphs.
